David Allen is the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of AlbaCore Capital Group, one of Europe’s leading alternative investment managers with expertise in credit strategies. Mr. Allen founded AlbaCore in 2016 with Bill Ammons, Deborah Cohen Malka and Matthew Courey. AlbaCore follows a unique hybrid strategy, moving seamlessly through public and private credit corporate credit markets, which allows the team to be agile and take a relative value approach to the market opportunity at hand. This agility proved invaluable in the 2020 dislocation and is a core part of the AlbaCore strategy to preserve capital whilst achieving significant alpha. The firm has invested $17 billion in 18 European countries since its founding in 2016 and has $8.6 billion assets under management from a global investor base.

Mr. Allen has enjoyed an international career, working across M&A and investment banking before specailising as a High Yield Analyst with Morgan Stanley. Prior to founding AlbaCore Capital Group, Mr. Allen managed Canada Pension Plan Investment Board’s European Principal Credit Fund. The experience at CPPIB provided Mr. Allen invaluable insight into the relationship between GP’s and LP’s, as well as demonstrating the long-term financial and ethical benefit of integrating ESG into the investment process. Previously, Mr. Allen was a Partner at GoldenTree Asset Management and established and ran the firm’s European presence.
Mr. Allen graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and was an all-conference rower.
