Dennis Hong is the Founder & CEO of ShawSpring Partners, a Boston-based investment firm. Mr. Hong grew the firms assets under management from $11.5 million to over $1.5 billion in less than seven years.
ShawSpring Partners pursues a long-term, highly concentrated investment approach and focuses globally in the technology, internet and consumer sectors. The firm’s research efforts culminate in a concentrated portfolio of 5-10 high-growth businesses that are believed to be able to compound capital over a multi-year investment horizon.
The firm manages approximately $1.5 billion on behalf of a select group of institutions including university and hospital endowments, charitable foundations, family investment offices and high-net-worth individuals.
Mr. Hong began his investment career at the Yale University Investments Office after graduating from Yale with a B.A. in Ethics, Politics & Economics in 2005. Prior to founding ShawSpring, Mr. Hong was a portfolio manager at Altimeter Capital, joining the start-up hedge fund in 2009 and expanding AUM from $2 million to $400 million.
Previously, Mr. Hong worked at Matrix Capital Management. Mr. Hong attended Harvard Business School’s MBA Program, but departed after completing his first year to launch ShawSpring.
