We are delighted to announce that David Bonderman, Founding Partner and Chairman of $103 billion AUM investment firm Texas Pacific Group (TPG) and minority owner of the Boston Celtics, will be our tenth guest speaker for the 2020/2021 university year.

David Bonderman is a legendary billionaire businessman, former lawyer and former professor. After graduating from law school in 1966, Mr Bonderman was an assistant professor at Tulane University Law School and proceeded to be special assistant to the United States Attorney General. He then joined law firm Arnold & Porter as a partner specialising in corporate, securities, bankruptcy and antitrust litigation.
In 1983, he joined the Robert M. Bass Group and became the CEO (the private holding run by Texan billionaire businessman and philanthropist Robert Muse Bass also formerly employed John Grayken of Lone Star Capital, Marc Lasry of Avenue Capital, Richard Rainwater and Edward Lampert of ESL Investments).
In 1992, David Bonderman founded the Texas Pacific Group with Jim Coulter, who worked with him for Robert Bass, and William S. Price III, then VP of Strategic Planning and Business Development at GE Capital. The firm’s first investment was the complete buyout of Continental Airlines.
Mr Bonderman has also been on the board of many companies, the most well-known being Uber, Continental Airlines, Ducati Motor Holdings S.p.A, Ryanair, Virgin Cinemas and Burger King. He is a graduate of the University of Washington and Harvard Law School.
TPG today focuses on leveraged buyouts and growth capital. It also manages investment funds in venture capital, public equity, and debt investments. The firm invests in a range of industries including consumer/retail, media and telecommunications, industrials, technology, travel, leisure, and health care.
