Background:

Joana Rocha Scaff joined Neuberger Berman in 2005 and serves as the Managing Director heading the Europe Private Equity team. She is also a member of the Co-Investment, Private Investment Portfolios, and Secondary Investment Committees. She has over 20 years of experience in the financial markets, with the majority in private equity investing.

 

Ms. Rocha Scaff is well known to be the driving force behind Neuberger Berman’s expansion into European Private Equity and is one of the 50 most influential people in private equity in Europe today.

 

Neuberger Berman is an investment management company that has invested over $374 Billion in a range of strategies such as equity, fixed income, quantitative and multi-asset class, real estate, and hedge funds. It has traditionally prioritized what they term as recession-resistant sectors, such as technology and healthcare. Today, these sectors account for nearly 40% of its total portfolio. Over the past 5 years, the total private equity assets under management have tripled to over $90 Billion, accounting for nearly a quarter of its total AUM.

 

Prior to Neuberger Berman, Ms. Rocha Scaff worked in the Investment Banking Division of Lehman Brothers, and prior to that at Citigroup Global Markets and Espirito Santo Investment.

 

Ms. Rocha Scaff is currently a member of the LP Committee of the British Private Equity Association and is also a member of the Limited Partner Advisory Committee of multiple European private equity funds.

 

Ms. Rocha Scaff received her M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and her B.A. in Business Management and Administration from the Universidade Catolica of Lisbon.
