Nigel Wright

Co - Head

Onex

Nigel is Co-Head of Onex Partners. With Tawfiq Popatia, he is responsible for Onex Partners’ operations and overall performance. Nigel is a member of the Investment Committee and oversees Onex Partners’ origination efforts in Europe.  

Since joining Onex, Nigel has been involved in the investments in Tes Global, Acacium Group (formerly Independent Clinical Services), Partou (formerly KidsFoundation), SIG Combibloc, Spirit AeroSystems, Hawker Beechcraft, ResCare, and CGG. He has also been involved with a number of initiatives at Onex, including the value realisations of ProSource, various Vencap investments and a number of other significant acquisition opportunities.  

Nigel serves on the boards of Acacium Group, Parkdean Resorts and Tes Global, and is a director of The Fraser Institute and the Macdonald-Laurier Institute. He has been involved for about 30 years in volunteer work at homeless shelters in Boston, Toronto and now London; for Camp Oochigeas, an organiation providing a residential summer camp and other programming for children with cancer, and for the Ottawa Mission. Nigel has been a director of several charities and foundations, including the Policy Exchange where he currently serves as a trustee, and previously as a founding director of the MasterCard Foundation.  

Nigel took a leave of absence from Onex from 2010 to 2014 to work as Chief of Staff for the Prime Minister of Canada. Prior to joining Onex in 1997, Nigel was a partner at the law firm of Davies, Ward & Beck. Before that, he worked in policy development in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada.  

Nigel holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, an LL.B. (Honours) from the University of Toronto Law School and a B.A. (cum laude) in Politics and Economics from Trinity College at the University of Toronto.
